The Gospel of Life Pilgrimage to Rome that I am leading with Father Frank Pavone and Teresa Tomeo officially begins this evening when we meet our 150 pilgrims. I look forward to having a chance to getting to know each of them.
We came to Italy a few days early because we had the chance to meet the family of St. Gianna Molla, who died rather than have a life-saving treatment that would have killed the child in her womb. Her daughter and namesake, Gianna, who was just days old when her mother died, visited the Priests for Life office last year, and we were thrilled to be invited to visit her family in Milan.
I’m posting a few photos from the first days of our pilgrimage to Italy and included is one of me with Laura Beretta Molla, who was 2 years old when her mother died, and her husband Giuseppe. There’s also a photo of Father Frank Pavone, Teresa Tomeo and I with Bishop Carrasco de Paula, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
